I believe McCandless and Ruess fatal journey's were put into action because of their desire for the wild in their heart and soul and not to escape from their families. If deep down they were really looking for a way to escape from their families I don't believe they would put themselves in dangerous situation. Logicallly, they would most likely just pick up their lives and move somewhere else, cut off all contact of their family, and start a new life. They could have easily accomplished escaping their family problems in so many different ways that would have resulted in living a normal life. The love they had for the wild was calling to them, and their was no way for them escpaing it. I don't think McCandless exaggerated his family issues. We don't know really how Chris felt without actuallly talking to him directly about it, we are getting a view of the situation from family members and Krakuer.

An Insight of Chris McCandless's Life

Krakuaer writes about McCandless, I believe, in the best way he can. He seems to write based a lot on facts. Krakuaer does go off on those facts and expresses his feelings, but I don't feel like he took it too far. Although pathos and logos are common in this reading, I feel like their could be more pathos. The book, to me, seems to be sort of lifeless because of the lack of more pathos. He cannot really express much because he does not know a whole lot without taking it from non-fiction to fiction. If I were to the name the story I would title it An Insight of Chris McCandless's Life. Krakuaer is writing from looking on the outside in, he puts himself as best as he can in Chris situation, but he does not really know what was going on through Chris's head.

Christopher McCandless

If I were Christopher McCandless and I wasn't fond of my family and someone I liked being around wanted to adopt me I probably would want to do it. I wouldn't to be totally alone in the world like Chris McCandless was. I would want some company or someone to go to once in a while. I think Chris honestly just wanted to be alone. He wanted no ties to anything or anyone and wanted freedom. Totally free and independent. I think if he was adopted he would still go to Alaska. He was just so much of a free spirit and loved the wilderness, the challenge, and the adventure.
